Apprenticeships

As a Trust, we support all our employees to undertake appropriate training and development courses and qualifications, to help with their career progression.

Staff Development Programmes

The Laurus Institute is home to all our professional learning and development opportunities for teaching and support staff.

As further professional learning is at the heart of what we do, we provide a comprehensive range of externally accredited programmes and in-house learning and development opportunities to staff at any stage in their career.

From skills development sessions to Apprenticeships and Master level qualifications, we invest a significant amount of time and money in the development and progression of our most valuable assets.  We aim to provide time efficient, relevant, and practical learning that staff can connect with and transfer back into the workplace, realising a return on our investment.

Career Pathways

We invest a considerable amount of time, effort and money in developing our staff because we understand that our people are our greatest asset.

Family Friendly Support

Enhanced family leave is available to support our staff with family commitments and to maintain a work-life balance. We also take a pro-active approach to flexible working. Returning to work after Family leave can be daunting and we support staff through this process as much as we can.

There are lots of resources, helpful tips and advice available in the run up to the return to work and beyond.

Sabbaticals

At the Trust, we understand that there may be times when you want to take an extended break from work due to a number of reasons, for example to travel abroad, undertake unpaid / charity work, volunteer or to spend more time with loved ones. Whilst there is no entitlement to a sabbatical, the Trust is committed to supporting employees’ work/life balance and we will do our best to help facilitate reasonable requests for unpaid sabbaticals for periods up to 12 months.

Specialist Support

An established Pastoral System led by non-Teaching staff is in place with a fully embedded Behaviour Policy and rewards system as well as a dedicated and specialist support staff network. This has led to an exceptionally positive and rewarding working environment with exemplary student attitudes to learning.

Long Service Recognition

Recognition for long service anniversaries.

Support for New Line Managers

We provide all the essential information and guidance you will need in your role as a manager. We also provide learning and development sessions to help support you through, from aspiring to transitioning to be a manager, and on to becoming an experienced manager.

Flexible Retirement

We offer flexible retirement, meaning that employees do not need to retire or stop working before taking their pension benefits.

Workload conversations with SLT

As a Trust we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of all staff and senior leaders fully embrace this approach by engaging with staff about teacher workload.

Further Professional Learning Sessions

Further Professional Learning (FPL) sessions are 20/30 minute sessions, delivered predominantly by our teaching staff every week at each of our secondary schools, covering a wide range of topics, to help staff to continually develop within their role.

Workplace Coaching

Our inhouse Workplace Coach provided tailored support to help build personal awareness, increase levels of engagement and develop specific skills and/or behaviours.
