Credit Union

Laurus Trust employees can join Manchester Credit Union (MCU), a financial co-operative, owned and controlled by its members. It exists solely for the benefit of its members and any surplus generated is returned to members in the form of a dividend on savings or used to improve services to members.

Services include:

  • Loans – from £150 to £15,000 (subject to an affordability assessment and a credit check).
  • Budget planner
  • Debt advice
  • Christmas saver account
  • Life savings cover
  • ENGAGE Classic Account – reloadable prepaid card and e-account that works like a high street bank account. Anyone who is a member of MCU can apply and no credit checks are required.

Cycle to Work Scheme

Through the Cycle to Work scheme, eligible staff can buy a new bike for travelling to work, and because it is paid for through a salary sacrifice arrangement, significant savings in income tax and NI can be made for the employee.

We also provide secure cycle parking for staff.

Enhanced Sick Pay

Enhanced Sick Pay ensures that we do whatever it takes to support our employees.

Giving Back

Want to make a difference in your local community? All of our staff make a difference every day in Laurus schools, but what if you wanted to help at another school or academy trust?

Volunteering as a school governor or an academy trustee will develop your professional skills and experience as well as shaping the future of children and young people. We encourage our staff to volunteer as school governors and allow paid time off during working hours to undertake this vital community role.

Living Wage Employer

We are proud to be an accredited Living Wage Employer.

We really value each and every employee across all of our schools for the contribution they make to the lives of our children. In return, we want to ensure that all staff receive the pay that enables them to thrive.

Local Affiliations and Discounts

Our employees are provided with access to a range of discounts, cash back, and vouchers for teachers and education staff.

All of our staff are also now eligible for discounts through Blue Light.

Local Wellbeing Initiatives

In each of our schools, we value staff input and actively seek their ideas on how best to organise wellbeing initiatives that truly benefit them.

Onsite Canteen

Employees across all of our schools have access to an affordable onsite canteen.

We’re committed to helping to develop great eating habits by providing nutritious and tasty dishes, all freshly prepared by the onsite catering team. We also take special care to ensure dietary requirements are catered for.

Pension

On joining the Laurus Trust, we automatically enrol you into one of our workplace pension schemes, either Teachers’ Pensions (TP) or the Local Government Pension Fund (LGPF).

Once you are enrolled, you will commence paying into your pension via automatic payments from your monthly pay. The Trust will also contribute to your pension.

Priority Admissions

If you would like your child to attend a Laurus Trust school, we offer staff priority in the school admissions process, subject to eligibility and availability.

Cheadle Hulme Pre-School also offers a discount on fees for parents who are employed by the Laurus Trust and who use 30 or more nursery hours per week.

Reimbursement of Professional Fees

We offer reimbursement of one annual subscription to an approved professional body or learned society – if being a member of that body or society is a requirement of your post.

Subsidised Gym Membership

All staff can use the fitness suites at our high school clubs for free in the morning before school. They can also receive a subsidised gym membership for out of school hours.

Travel Loans

We offer interest-free loans for the purchase of annual travel tickets.
