The Laurus Trust has a board of volunteer trustees or non-executive directors whose combined skills offer a wealth of experience and knowledge to set the Trust’s strategic direction, oversee its performance, and ensure it fulfils its charitable purpose while meeting its statutory and regulatory responsibilities.
Why become a Trustee?
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in ensuring effective governance, helping to shape the Trust’s long-term direction while providing both support and constructive challenge to the Executive Team. We welcome interest from individuals who have operated at a senior level within complex organisations and can bring sound judgement, integrity and strategic insight to our Board.
Most importantly, we are seeking people who share our values and are motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference: contributing your experience and expertise to an organisation dedicated to giving every child an ambitious and academically rich education regardless of their background or circumstance.
What is involved?
As a Trustee, you would:
- Serve a four-year term
- Prepare for and participate in five Trust Board meetings, and three sub-committee meetings a year. These are a combination of in-person and remote meetings held during the day.
- Engage with stakeholders and share a genuine interest in schools’ performance and activities
- Undertake policy reviews
- Commit to training and development
- Uphold the Nolan Principles of Public Life
