Why join the Laurus Trust

The Laurus Trust is a highly successful and growing multi-academy trust in the North West of England, with Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), the founder school, at its centre. Our vision is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.

All our Laurus Schools are hugely oversubscribed and have a reputation, both locally and further afield, for outstanding teaching and learning through the relentless pursuit of excellence and the determination to ensure that every child succeeds. In the recent Staff Engagement Survey 97% of our employees stated that they would recommend working for Laurus Trust to their friends. In 2019/20 our average teacher turnover rate for secondary schools was 3.75%, which falls way below the national average of 15%.

Applying for a position within the Laurus Trust means you are applying to teach, or to help the teaching of children, in a successful, growing and forward-thinking organisation. We highly value each and every employee and we are so proud of our focus on professional support and development as we are of our Ofsted-outstanding reputation.

Our schools boast state-of-the-art facilities and our Trust head offices offer a stimulating and friendly atmosphere.

Introduction to The Trust

At the Laurus Trust we understand that joining a new school can be a daunting prospect, regardless of whether you are new to education or an experienced teacher or member of support staff. In order to enable a smooth transition to life at the Laurus Trust we have devised a coordinated and robust induction programme of support to enable new staff to hit the ground running.

Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) at the Laurus Trust receive tailored individual support to enable them to meet the challenges that the NQT year often presents. Each new NQT is invited to an induction day prior to their start date. This day focuses on understanding the vision and ethos of the Laurus Trust and the context of the school, as well an opportunity to understand some key procedures and policies, such as behaviour and rewards. All NQTs have a dedicated Induction Mentor and Curriculum Mentor with whom they meet regularly to ensure that all NQTs are fully supported and on target to achieve their individual goals. Recently Qualified Teachers (RQTs) also provide support offering guidance and advice from a different perspective and sharing their experience of the year. NQTs have specific dedicated Professional Learning sessions throughout the academic year. The trust also works with an external appropriate body which quality assures the process of NQT induction.

Employee Benefits

Each and every member of staff is at the heart of our success, Laurus upholds a passionate belief in the importance of professional learning and development for all our staff. To support this, we financially support apprenticeships, masters and doctoral level study alongside the NPQ suite of qualifications for teachers.

We also offer a wide range of other employee benefits to all of our staff in return for their commitment to our schools, and to help contribute towards improving their overall well-being. These can be found detailed in our Candidate Applicant Packs below:
